In an attempt to find out whether or not the most ancient literary sources mention real historical events, I conducted a research into the creation myths from around the world. The notions used most frequently in these sources were Giant, Mountain, Heaven, Earth, Sun, Tree (Worldtree) and Separation of Heaven and Earth. Additional information about these notions was subsequently obtained through a study of such ancient sources as the Egyptian Book of the Dead, the Central American books of picture writing, the Popol Vooh, the Book of Chilam Balam of Chumayel, India`s Vedic sources, the Sohar, The Old Testament, and pertinent literature of a more recent date.
Since the meaning of the above-mentioned ancient notions does not make sense to our present understanding of them, a more detailed investigation of the context in which these notions are embedded was necessary to see whether or not the original meaning can be found.
The result of this detailed investigation is contained in a series of articles each of which furnishes additional background information about one or several of the above-mentioned, most frequently used ancient notions.
It is by way of comparing the ancient contexts -not the words - against the background of today´s state of the art in science and technology that the ancient terms become understandable.
A new picture of our world is thus obtained in which the above-mentioned notions reflect the existence of space knowledge on earth in a remote past.
The result of my research covers a wide range of subjects in such fields as mythology, archaeology, anthropology, linguistics, egyptology, and astronomy.
